What’s Not to Love?
By Karin Korb
I was never a big fan of tennis. Didn’t think it was a tough enough sport when I was growing up…little did I know. It took breaking my back to figure out the gifts of hitting that little yellow ball! For me, tennis represents the freedom to compete although I happen to use a wheelchair. Tennis also gives me the freedom to play whenever, against whoever and basically however I want. You don’t need to be a perfect technical player to enjoy the sport.
It’s a sport that, for the most part involves sunshiney days and I’m all about sunshiney days! It’s a sport that anyone can play. I love it because when I miss a shot or make a shot - I am responsible for both; It’s kinda a lot like life. If you’re paying attention and breathing, well, you just may execute the perfect shot and maybe not. Again, it’s like life. Good shots and not so good shots; good days and not-so-good days. And, lastly what’s not to love about a sport that starts with “Love - Love”?
